Year 2014: Good and Bad Points

I think that the 2014 year was a great year. It was bad things but in general, it was a good year. In my carrier, we made two short films with a really good critics and grades. The first short film was “Santa Clarita”, directed by my friend patricio. I directed the photography of the film and was so fun. The script was very interesting, the actors were very funny and the team work works perfectly. It was a good project and we gain a lot of experience for our next works.

The next good thing was the selection of my project and the possibility to record the second semester. It was a nice surprise, and me and my team work a lot. Is hard to communicate to you how much time we expend in correct the scrip, define and chose the actors, prepare the production, etc. And finally we record the short film. The montage part was long and tedious because you have to see your material one, two, three, fifteen, twenty-five times to be sure that the film likes you.  But at the end, we were happy with the result of all the time and work put on the project.

The next things that happen to me in the 2014 year were more personal, someone’s sadder and others happier. But the year, in general, teach me a lot of things. In fact, it was one of my best years in the university when I discover a lot of more things of do films.

My travel experience to Bolivia - Peru.

I had the lucky to travel and know a lot of places in the world. I had been in Bolivia, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and the United States. Know, maybe you think that the most exciting trip was the United States, Brazil or Mexico. But no, my best holidays were in Bolivia and Peru.

I went with, in that time, my girlfriend and two friends. They take a plane to Bolivia, but I don’t have the money to pay a fly, so I went in a bus. At Iquique, I have to take the bus to Bolivia alone, cross the countries and arrive to La Paz. My girlfriend and my friends were in Santiago because they flight was be in two more days. So I arrive alone to Bolivia, I found a cousin of my girlfriend and stay in her home. I knew wonderful people.
My travel team arrives to Bolivia. We get together and we start the travel to Peru in bus. It was a great travel with beautiful landscapes, awesome people that we meet, excellent food, etc. We arrive to Peru and we discover a great culture. It was a fantastic trip.

A special place.

There is one special place in Santiago that always visit when I can. It’s called Cascanueces and it’s a Coffee shop.

The first thing that I like of this place is the coffee, the fresh coffee. They have the best coffee beans from a lot of countries like Guatemala, Peru, Colombia and Ethiopia. They blend the coffee beans perfectly, and put on the right part of perfectly hot water. The environment it feels like you are in your home, and the waiters speaks to you like your friend, meanwhile you taste a really good cup of Express Coffee.

When I go to Cascanueces, I like to read a book, smoke a good tobacco or just speak with the people in there. You can always have an interesting and enjoyable conversation with everyone in the place. I think that the energy of the Cascanueces makes a good vibration for the people who visit it.

I try to go every month if a can, or sometimes, when I have to do a procedure or something in Providencia, I go to drink a coffee, or just say hi.

The last time I was there, it was really fun because I went with a French girl that the only thing she wanted to do, was drink a good coffee. So I took her to Cascanueces, She drank an Express, and the coffee blew her mind. She sayd “At least a really good coffee, not like Nescafe”. Later we talked a lot. I introduced the Cascanueces people and she was fascinated with the amiability of that place. It was a really good time.

¿How Green are you?

Well, i think that i do a Little bit to help the environment. We can all do our part to help the planet; we all can do things to make our lives and the city healthier. But there is a problem. The human race is comfortable and lazy. The people prefer to buy a car, when they can ride a bike. Prefer put out all the garbage and don’t recycling. But if you want to help the planet, start by yourself and give the example.

I contribute my bit riding a bike, or trying to use every day. It’s a really good way to move around the city. Faster, easy to transport and the best thing is that you can evade the traffic. I can reach any place of Santiago in my bike, but sometimes I feel obliged to use my car. And I don’t like use my car, because:

        1)      It’s expensive
        2)      I’m contaminating
        3)      I have to support big lines of traffic
        4)      I hate can’t feel the fresh air in my face

Maybe, sound really stupid for someone, but I think that if the entire city uses a bike as a means of transportation, the city will become cleaner, with more happy people, with fewer accidents, with no traffic and with clear avenues when you can go out for a walk or have a familiar day. When you think something, and you are convinced, you have to start from yourself and just do it.

History maker, my future Job.

Well, I don’t know if a can call “History Maker” as a job, but, let’s talk about this. Yes, I like to tell histories. I’m like a crazy old man who tells story to childrens. But well, I think that is the best thing of my job.  I have the power to make you feel like a kid, to listen carefully the history and keep your eyes in the screen. Now, you know, I want to be a Film maker.

If you ask to me where I will be in a few years, I don’t know. It’s a mystery for me, especially because I have a lot of projects in my mind. So, I don’t see me on my future job.
The thing is, I’m study for be a film director. So I will do all the necessary things for satisfied my expectations. I want to tell histories of my country. Who are Chile, what are the stories that the people is telling to me every day, in the bus, in supermarket, in subway etc.

I have to listen, and do a story with identity, Chilean identity. After that, I want to go to another country, maybe Argentina, France or Spain. Tell my and our stories because we are nothing without the others. We need to tell histories in each others, and I want to be that one.

Discrimination and the problem with immigrants.

Chilean people think that they are kindness and mature. Big mistake Chilean people. We have to learn so much about the human rights. ¿Why? Because all the discrimination that we have in our country. But, ¿What kind of discrimination we have in Chile?

First, I think that Chile (Not all the country, but a majority) it’s a soft Nazi country (doesn’t means that we are Nazis. We have an unconscious legacy). We (I say “We” because I’m in Chile) have a nationalism integrated in our DNA, producing a lot of commentaries, news and ways of think reproducing the model. We criticize “flaytes”, immigrants, women (Incredible but true and happens all the time. In fact, the women discriminate herself in many ways), animals, ourselves, etc.

And I repeat, we have so much to learn. ¿What happens with the people that is far away from their families, their culture and their comfortably places? ¿What does mean to be an immigrant and be discriminated in Chile? It has to be very difficult be an Immigrant.

Be discriminated in Chile consist in tolerate the look of the people if you have a different skin color, if you are a Peruvian or Bolivian, if you dress different (Like Palestine people), etc. Tolerate the low voice commentaries. Send ¾ parts of your wage, and sleep with other ten people. Be an immigrant isn’t easy. We have to integrate and stop discriminate. We are one big country called Latin-America; in fact, we are a one big country called earth, so start with the discussion and the elimination of the discrimination.

The way I move in the city.

The way I move in the city.

The people who live in Santiago have a lot of problems to move on the city. The public buses and subway don’t  work fine. It’s a mess to go to downtown if you live on the east and vice versa. The times of travel are really long. The people spend about an hour, two hours or more to arrive to their jobs, and their houses, in the afternoon. The peak hour in Santiago is a real disaster. Angry drivers, angry passengers in the public transport, all the streets fill up with cars and one annoying sound repeat all the time. The F*ing  car horn.

So now, what you can do to move faster in the city. How to solve the problem of peak hour and don’t be one more of the multitude?  My tip is, ride a bike.

The bike is cheap, faster than the public transport, doesn’t need gasoline and the best thing is that makes you do exercise.  If most of the city people use a bike, the mess in the mornings and the afternoons (All day really) will disappear.

That’s what I do, ride my bike. It’s great because my travel times decreased, my health is better (well, I smoke, but it is much better), I can reach any place of the city and I feel free to go where I want without worry about what bus I have to take or what combination I have to do.
So I recommend all of you, use the bike.

Barcelona, the city i want to visit and live.

There is one city that I like to visit, know completely and live. The name, Barcelona.
Barcelona breaths art in the streets. It is a city with a lot of art history and you see in all kind of things. Buildings, houses, streets, monuments and museums.

Barcelona is space for the art. You can show your thing and see a lot of movies, paints and photography exhibitions. My objective is doing a postgraduate study in Barcelona. Know a lot more of how to do a film, about fiction, documentary and film directing.

I think that the people who live in Barcelona are more maturity, they have more history. They gone through a lot of more things that us, so I really like that. I want to live some years right there and feel a different city.  It’s not the Mecca for me, but it’s a place that I like a lot.
